ARIZONA COLOR RUN AND CHARLEEN’S CHALLENGE

Here’s a quick video that should give you an idea

THE COLOR RUN™ – The Happiest 5K on the Planet!

ARIZONA COLOR RUN   January 28th 2012

Hello everybody,

Charleen and Pavle have registered team “FnB Restaurant” for this year’s Color Run. So far we have 31 team members registered. The 5K’s proceeds benefit Banner Health Cardon Children’s Medical Center.

The Color Run is pretty unusual. There are 5 stations set up at every kilometer. When you pass every station you will be bombarded with a specific color. By the end you will look like a Jackson Pollock painting. Last night I was telling guests at FnB that they were going to look like a Sidney Pollock painting—someone eventually corrected me. (thx Jenny Houser)

Nor Charleen or I have ever done a 5K, so needless to say this should be interesting. Charleen tells me yesterday that she will like to challenge all of our team members. She wants you to know that it is her intention to take first place within our team. If she does not take first place, then the winner of team “FnB Restaurant” will get this:

Charleen and Pavle will come to the winner’s house and cook dinner for 4 of his/her friends. They will also bring a mystery wine maker to help us serve wine and…hang out.

So there you have it. Go to www.thecolorrun.com/arizona and join our team.

Enclave Productions who produces FnBTV will be there to get it all on tape!

We will like to thank all the members of our team that have registered already. Not only is this going to be a blast, but it’s also for a good cause.

Ok, just one more video!

When:  September 21, 2011, 7 pm
Sept 06, 2011. Phoenix, AZ. – Manu Chao, announced he will be performing a free “Alto Arizona” concert in collaboration with the National Day Laborer Organizing Network to protest the anti-immigrant policies that have made Arizona a “capital of prejudice.”
The multi-lingual, multi-cultural, and globe-spanning musician will bring his chart-topping music to Phoenix in a rare performance offered for free in support of the community-level human rights work of the Barrio Defense Committees that formed in the wake of the passage of SB 1070.
Manu Chao states, “For the past year, we’ve carried the people of Arizona in our hearts as we witnessed them suffer under such ignorant laws.  We’ll be proud to perform with the community to show that love can conquer hate.”
As the son of parents who fled Franco in Spain, Chao can relate personally to the discrimination and displacement experienced under aggressive governance. Through his music, Chao has originated and elevated global protest pop with a style of music that could be at home anywhere in the world.
“We are pleased Manu Chao will join the struggle of humble and persecuted migrants in in Arizona.  His music is universal and constitutes a direct repudiation of intolerance and the systematic persuction of migrants not just in Arizona but beyond borders.” explains Pablo Alvarado, Director of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network. “We’re honored to partner on an Alto Arizona concert to help turn the tide on hatred.  And Manu Chao’s music is a valuable reminder that the struggle for human dignity is not just fought for, it’s also celebrated.”
The Free Concert will take place on September 21 at West Grant and S 2nd Ave, Phoenix, AZ. (Across the Street from El Portal Restaurant)
